From June 29th to July 1st, Campitello di Fassa will host the European Sport Climbing Championships, Speed and Lead disciplines. This important sport event takes place once every two years and it is a highly sought-after goal among the climbers of the international sport climbing circuit. The competition will be attended by the best european athletes, including Stefano Ghisolfi from
Italy and Adam Ondra, who have made great rock climbings and are still involved in the World Cup races. In 1998 it was founded in Campitello the Val di Fassa Climbing and it was built the first indoor climbing facility of the territory. Since then, Val di Fassa Climbing has grown exponentially; it has arranged more than 85 competitions, including 2 absolute Italian Championships, 28 Italian Cup races (lead, bouldering and speed), 3 Dry Tooling races (Ice Climbing), many youth competitions and a Paraclimbing World Cup in the summer of 2016. Val di Fassa Climbing actively participates in the organization of competitions, has gained a great experience and now has a new state-of-the-art facility that is approved by C.O.N.I. to host international competitions; then, on the proposal of the Italian Sport Climbing Federation (F.A.S.I.), Val di Fassa Climbing decided to finally make the breakthrough, arranging the 2017 European Championship.
