ADEL CLIMBING WALL
It was in the autumn of 1997 when a group of climbers friends met at the "Villa Campitello" hotel in the homonymous town and wanted by the current President Stefano Bonello to create an association that has to be a meeting point for all climbers of the valley; they wanted also to build an artificial structure in "Ischia" area, still in Campitello. Then the "Val di Fassa Climbing" was born: in 1998 the first race was organized on the brand new facility, i mean the first "Dolomiti Master"; it continued for 12 editions and it was always a big success. The following year it was organized the Lead Italian Cup and it was reconfirmed for 11 editions; then the bouldering specialty was added for 5 years and 2 Italian Championships of the same specialty. Since 2007 for 4 years there was also the Speed Italian Cup and various youth and amateur competitions, without forgetting the spectacular winter ice climbing competitions. In the structure were born not only races but talents also; with training on it, they became athletes who became famous in national and international competitions: Ralf Brunel, Mauro Dorigatti, Patrik Daberto and Mario Prinoth; the last two have also made many historical and high difficulty rock climbing routes. From 2011 to 2013 the association had to stop its activity due to the destruction of the structure caused by a fire. In 2014, its activity is resumed thanks to the brand new and innovative structure; it consists of an external zone for the lead, an internal zone for the bouldering and an internal wall for climbing with the rope; it can host lead races and speed races also on its homologated wall. The "ADEL" climbing wall, this is the name of the facility, is dedicated to Alessandro Dantone, Diego Perathoner, Erwin Riz and Luca Prinoth, the 4 rescuers who died under the avalanche of 2009 December 26th, in Val Lasties. The "Val di Fassa Climbing" wants to continue on the road it has taken so far: to promote the climbing sport, still organizing competitions and above all, exploiting the possibilities offered by this new facilty, to grow the youth sector by following and directing the enthusiasm of the guys who already attend the structure and those who will attend it.
